At Major Player Music School, we offer lessons in most instruments for everyone, from the novice to the experienced and from school children to adults.

We welcome everyone, whatever your experience, and we offer private lessons with experienced teachers in a fun, supportive and professional environment.

Guitar Lessons | Major Player Music School

Guitar Lessons

Learn to play guitar whether you want to play on your own or to lead a rock band.

We offer individual weekly private guitar lessons for students of all levels from primary to mature aged.

Our experienced teachers have guided many new hands over the strings of a guitar and will provide you with supportive and professional tuition no matter your experience.

Lessons incorporate theory and practise and are normally private and for 30 minutes, giving you the best start to mastering the guitar.

Learn party hits, modern pop or classical greats – it’s your lesson and your music!

Let us know what you want to learn and we will design the program.

Key Outcomes

Adult Instrument Lessons | Major Player Music School

Adult Instrument Lessons

We welcome students of all ages to all of our music education opportunities.

Mums and Dads of our younger students together with Grandparents and other members of families often become permanent students at Major Player.

We delight in helping many very mature aged students gain musical abilities that they never thought were possible!

It is a highlight in presenting prizes at the Nancy Weir Awards in March each year when our mature aged students join our younger ones on stage to receive their recognition for achievements.

Many adults join us, never having played any musical instrument before.  Others come back after having sadly stopped playing in their very early years.

Just tell us what you would like and we will design the program for you.

Music Theory Lessons

Our weekly Music Theory Group Classes boost the knowledge and confidence of students sitting for exams throughout the year.

The group lessons provide a stimulating and enjoyable environment for students who develop their teamwork and social skills as a bonus to their structured learning of the musical principles.

Music Theory can also be fast-tracked through individual private lessons.

Our students are known for their outstanding results in exams.

Brass & Woodwind Lessons | Major Player Music School

Brass & Woodwind Lessons

Learn your favourite brass and woodwind instrument, from trumpet to trombone to clarinet, or even saxophone.

From orchestral classics to marching bands, from driving dance bands to smooth jazz numbers, Major Player can offer you the skills and theory you need to become a great musician in any setting.

Whether you want to see your child onstage or just live out your dream of learning an instrument, we can tailor your individual weekly private lessons to meet the needs of any student from primary to mature aged.

Drum Lessons

Drums are the heartbeat of any orchestra, band or ensemble.

We offer individual weekly private lessons for students of all levels from primary to mature aged, with lessons normally private and for 30 minutes.

Our drums teacher is enthusiastic and will give you the practical skills and theory to master your art.

Master the basics and work up to heart-pounding, ground-shaking solos and big finishes.

Strings Lessons | Major Player Music School

Strings Lessons

Our string tutors instruct on most string instruments.

The lyrical sounds of the strings are unmistakable. From a string quartet to the orchestra to contemporary pop and country, the strings offer magic to every student.

Whether you’re a primary or mature aged student, our weekly lesson will teach you the techniques and theory to master the string instrument of your choice.

It’s your lesson and your music – let us design a program to meet your wants and needs.

The home instrument will need to be capable of supporting the student’s level of development.

Voice/Singing Lessons | Major Player Music School

Voice/Singing Lessons

We love to help students of all ages from our youngest learners to our grandparents in developing the confidence and abilities to sing.

Many of our guitar students also love to sing in their lessons and we are keen to encourage them.

Lessons are usually once a week for 30 minutes.

Piano Lessons | Major Player Music School

Piano Lessons

Our students range from beginners to advanced and we welcome all participants whether learning just for enjoyment or with the intention of making music their career.  Our students may sit exams, participate in performances or just play at home for themselves or their families.

Choose what you want to play, from the great classics to smooth jazz to modern pop.

The home instrument will need to be capable of supporting the student’s level of development.

  • High level results in exams for dedicated students is possible.
  • Students may develop techniques of the finest players through the sharing of high level knowledge.
  • Fun and enjoyment for early learners developing a new skill.

Keyboard Lessons | Major Player Music School

Keyboard Lessons

The teaching methods for piano and keyboard are similar.

Students with keyboards at home are taught the technical skills required to play their instrument at home with a high level of expertise.

We welcome students of all ages to all of our music education opportunities.

A specially designed path for adults has been developed by Miss Berna for adult learning.
