Speech and Drama Lessons now at Major Player

Speech and Drama Lessons now at Major Player

March 9, 2019

We are very excited to welcome Ellie Bourke to Major Player as head of Speech and Drama.

Ellie is well known to the Rockhampton Community through a long and successful Eisteddfod career.  Her references are outstanding and we are very excited to have her join the Major Player family.

Lessons commenced this week for a number of students and we would welcome enquiries from additional families.

We see Speech and Drama as a natural extension to what we have been sharing with students over the past 18 years.  The discipline has also been a key part of Miss Berna’s early life entering Rockhampton Eisteddfods in Speech and Drama and Piano, of course!  Berna also achieved a very high level in her Speech and Drama exams.

Welcome to the team Ellie!!

Nancy Weir Awards for 2018

Nancy Weir Awards for 2018

March 9, 2019

The Annual Nancy Weir Awards will again be held at Middle Hall, Sisters of Mercy, Agnes Street Rockhampton from 6-8pm on Saturday 23rd March 2019.

Award winners’ families will have recently been notified and invited to this free of charge evening.

The processes of deciding award winners begins with Miss Berna’s individual review of each student’s progress with their teacher(s) prior to the end of each teaching year.  It is at these reviews that teachers report and make recommendations whilst planning the way forward for each student.  Other activities during the year including exams and Eisteddfods are then considered before final decisions are made for the awards.

During the evening there will be a wide range of performances from classical to contemporary as well as an introduction to our new Speech and Drama teacher, Ellie Bourke.

Everyone is cordially invited to attend this special part of the year to acknowledge many wonderful contributions to the Major Player story.
